  84. features of the program, and is not crippled in any way.  You may use it
  85. for up to 30 days, without charge (see HDM.DOC for more details).  If
  86. you like the program, and wish to continue its use after this evaluation
  87. period, you are required to pay for the program (see REGISTER.DOC for

  115. The installation procedure for the Hard Disk Menu (HDM) is quite simple.
  116. The package includes a program, "INSTALL.EXE", which automates the
  117. entire process.  You will need about 800K of available disk space on the
  118. hard drive on which you plan to install HDM.
  119.  
  120. The exact steps you need to take will depend on how you received HDM.
  121.  
  122.  
  123. INSTALLING FROM DISKETTES
  124.  
  125. To install from diskette(s), you need to perform the following steps.
  126.  
  127.    o  Place the HDM distribution diskette in the appropriate diskette
  128.       drive.
  129.  
  130.    o  Execute the "INSTALL.EXE" program on the distribution diskette.
  131.       For example, if the distribution diskette is on drive A:, type
  132.       the MS-DOS command, "a:install".
  133.  
  134.    o  Follow the instructions presented by the installation program.
  135.       You will have a chance to approve installation before any changes
  136.       are actually made to the contents of your hard drive.  The program
  137.       will ask you for a destination directory, and will copy the HDM
  138.       files to that directory. If you so direct it, the installation
  139.       program will install executable programs and documentation in
  140.       other directories of your choice.  It will make no other changes;
  141.       specifically, it will not modify your autoexec.bat (unless you
  142.       allow it) or config.sys files.

  145. INSTALLING FROM A HARD DRIVE
  146.  
  147. If you downloaded HDM from a BBS (or received it in the form of archive
  148. files from some other source), you will need to perform the following
  149. steps.
  150.  
  151.    o  Extract the contents of the archive file(s) in a temporary
  152.       directory on your hard drive.  The procedure for doing this
  153.       varies, depending on the form in which you received the package.
  154.       In all likelihood, the fact that you are reading this text means
  155.       that you already have the necessary tools and knowledge to
  156.       perform this step.  If not, you should be able to obtain
  157.       directions for this from the same source from which you received
  158.       the package.
  159.  
  160.    o  Execute the "INSTALL.EXE" program which you have extracted.  For
  161.       example, if the temporary directory into which you have extracted
  162.       the HDM package is C:\TEMPDIR, you would execute the MS-DOS
  163.       command, "c:\tempdir\install".

  165.    o  Follow the instructions presented by the installation program.
  166.       You will have a chance to approve installation before any changes

  182. Once you've complete the installation, you should consult the documents
  183. (filename extension "doc") which have been installed.  In particular,
  184. read at least the "Installing and Starting HDM" and "Using HDM" sections
  185. of the file "HDM.DOC".  That document will tell you how to invoke the
  186. program, and will give you other information you need to properly
  187. evaluate HDM.  We hope you enjoy the program.

  195. HDMnnn.INS where nnn is the version: (HDM789.INS = HDM 7.89). The

  197. ZIP is the type of archive/compression used.  INSTALL.EXE will install
  198. any (all) of MicroFox's Installation (*.INS) files.
